Leonie Watson’s recent work spans the media of oil, watercolour, pencil and thread. Her paintings and drawings investigate relationships between different types of visual languages, thinking these through different media, and always with the intention of engaging the affective potential of material and image. Her work attempts to reconcile accepted binaries such as rational/irrational, concrete/abstract and surface/depth.
