Michelle Cawthorn is a Sydney based multi-disciplinary artist whose practice encompasses drawing, collage, sculpture and time-based forms. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours (Class 1), a Bachelor of Art Education and a Master of Fine Arts from UNSW Art & Design. Her recent solo exhibitions include Little Triggers, AD Space, Sydney (2015), Birdland, .M Contemporary, Sydney (2015) and Bittersweet (2015) at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery and Arts Centre, Sydney. Recent group exhibitions include Private Lives: The Artist as Collector, S H Ervin Gallery, Sydney (2015), The Charged Object, Gallery Lane Cove, Sydney (2016) and This Is Not A Solo Show, a collaborative exhibition with her partner, artist Peter Sharp, at Verge Gallery, Sydney University, Sydney (2016)

Cawthorn has been a finalist in a number of significant awards including the Tim Olsen Drawing Prize (2014) for which she received a Highly Commended, the Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize (2015), the Wollongong Art Gallery Contemporary Watercolour Prize (2016) and the Hazelhurst Art on Paper Award (2013 and 2015), for which she received the Local Artist Award in 2013. In 2012 she was awarded an Australian Post Graduate Award for her research in neuroscience and art.

Her work is held in public and private collections nationally.
