Henry Jock Walker | Aquacurl Power Station

In Aquacurl Power Station, Henry Jock Walker has stitched wetsuit material into abstractions that memorialise time spent in the ocean. The neoprene surfaces carry the weathering of their former use with a method that brings together pattern making and painting. In the studio you can see it: mounds of used wetsuits like discarded skins, collected by Walker in parallel with his mobile performance practice. Henry Jock Walker | Re-Entry Ding Repairs

Henry Jock Walker will call on the materials, community and environment of surf culture to occupy the gallery during July. Taking advantage of The Egg & Dart’s street frontage, Re-Entry Ding Repairs merges the art gallery with surf shop symbolism. Each breaks down the other, the language of surfing pushing at the codes of gallery speak. A chronological grid of Walker’s wet suit paintings will mass on a gallery wall through the month. Each daily painting is the outcome of a ritual dawn shred and yogi so as Jock says, check the Ding Repairs daily sched.

The Scrambled Egg & Dart Experiment | Henry Jock Walker

It’s with great excitement we introduce our first ever performance artist in Henry Jock Walker. Walker will be undertaking another first for us, a residency here at The Egg & Dart!

Henry Jock Walker is an artist and surfer from Adelaide, South Australia. He uses the crossover of surfing action and action painting to morph his practice onto a unique platform of exploration between the surfing and art community. However, Walker offers more than that. An avid perfomer with a social consience he gladly collaborates with people he meet on his journey of artmaking and his materials may be lucky finds on the way. This serendipitousness are important part of his work.

‘The Scrambled Egg & Dart Experiment’ will take place at the E&D gallery and around Thirroul from 9th to 31st July, with an event screening, exhibition and perfomance by Henry Jock Walker and friends on the 29th July.
